IMO Hong Kong Preliminary Selection Contest
每年，國際數學奧林匹克香港委員會均於五月或六月舉辦一次選拔初賽。比賽時間一般為 3 小時，設 20 題，參賽者只需提供答案。在選拔初賽表現突出的同學將獲邀參加為期一年的訓練，從中選出參加 IMO 的香港代表。
Each year, the IMOHKC organises a preliminary selection contest in May or June. The contest normally lasts for 3 hours and contestants have to solve about 20 problems which require answers only. High achievers of the contest are then invited to take part in a year-long training programme which selects the Hong Kong team for the IMO.

IMO Team Selection Tests
為期一年的訓練中設有幾次選拔測驗，以挑選 IMO 代表隊的成員。其中兩次測驗為於十一月或十二月舉行的中國香港數學奧林匹克（CHKMO）及於翌年三月舉行的亞太區數學奧林匹克（APMO）。
During the year-long training programme, several tests are administered and the results from these tests will be used to select the Hong Kong team to IMO. These include the CHKMO in November or December and the APMO in March.
